  4. Foster Homes for Dogs & Cats and Puppies & Kittens Needed–Help Homeless Animals!

    Project Status: Ongoing

Details about the Project: Volunteer Foster Families provide a loving home for a dog, cat, puppy or kitten. All pet food, pet supplies and veterinary care is provided by the nonprofit animal rescue. There is no cost to you. You simply provide a safe and loving home. You care for and play with your foster animal. You bring your foster animal to adoption day events where they can find their furr-ever family. 🙂

Project Location: Foster Families are needed everywhere in Maricopa County, Arizona. For your convenience, we will pair you with the animal rescue location that is closest to your home. Just send in a reply to this comment with your major cross streets & the city where you live and we will find the animal rescue match for you. Please also let us know what your preference is: Dog, Cat, Puppy or Kitten.

Project Due Date: A.S.A.P. Begin at any Time

Approximate Number of Volunteer Hours Requested:

You will get 1 1/2 hours for orientation & pick up of your foster animal and 1 1/2 hours for each transport to an adoption day. If you stay and help with adoption day, you will get credit for those hours also. In addition, you will get 1 hour for each day that the animal lives with your family. If you decide to provide the pet food yourself then you will get an extra 2 hours added to each week that you foster a dog or cat because it will save money for the animal rescue organization.

Specific Goals for the Project: We are trying to save the lives of more animals. All animal lovers are working hard to make Maricopa County a “no kill” county for healthy adoptable animals. Currently, Maricopa County has the highest “euthanasia” rate of any county in the U.S.A.

Where to Get More Details: Please wait to be contacted by an animal rescue near you. You will receive more details once we have made a match.

If you wish, you may view the Animal Rescue Nonprofit Organizations that are listed in our Directory of Services & Organizations. If you are interested in helping them you may contact them directly and ask them if you can help. You will find links to their websites. You may come up with other ways to help them and ask to get volunteer hours after viewing their websites and seeing what events they participate in and after viewing their other volunteer needs. Directions on How to Get Started: Simply send in a reply to this “comment” in the “Share Information & Resources” section below and we will find you the nearest animal rescue to where you live. Please contact them and let them know that you are willing to help. We will also ask them to contact you.

IMPORTANT: Please remember that it is your parent who will be accepting responsibility for the foster animal so make sure that they approve before you make the commitment. Be sure to let the animal rescue know that you will need them to provide pet food before you agree to care for the animal. That way they will have the food available when you pick up the animal.

Please remind the organization that you will need to receive documentation to verify the volunteer hours that you complete so that you are compliant with all Juvenile Justice System requirements. Please be sure to let us know how soon you need to have your volunteer hours completed.
