    Project Proposal:

A local nonprofit group named “Soldier’s Best Friend” is hard at work training therapy dogs to help wounded veterans. There is much more demand for these helpful canine companions than this organization can keep up with. Not only do they help Veterans, they try to work with local animal shelters to place rescue dogs into new homes. They are “Touching Two Lives at Once”. This organization is in need of sponsors & funds to help train more Veteran & Dog pairs. To find out more about this worthy organization, please visit their website:
soldiersbestfriend.org

Once a veteran or active military member is accepted into this program, they will be paired with a dog adopted from a local shelter unless the Veteran already has a dog. Soldier’s Best Friend is devoted to helping our Veterans. They are also devoted to helping shelter dogs and the pet overpopulation problem. The Veteran and the dog will live together from that point forward. Training sessions are held 1-2 days a week for up to 30 weeks.

Please tell your friends about this worthy cause. More information is coming soon. Please stay tuned.

    The Mission of this Organization:

Soldier’s Best Friend provides U.S. military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that saves two lives at once and inspires countless others.

    The Goal of this Organization:

To help our war heroes improve in their symptoms of PTSD, adjust back into civilian life, lead a more productive life and help them build self esteem. We also want to help the pet overpopulation problem by helping place shelter or rescue dogs into good homes.

    Goal this Project Supports:

Our Goal is to: Assist Individuals, Families and Professionals in finding Quick and Easy Access to Help & Resources that address Common Issues relevant to Veterans, Active Military & their families.

Finished Product:

A fully trained Service or Therapeutic Companion Dog and Veteran pair. We owe it to our returning Veterans to do what we can to ease their transition back into their communities.

“When a veteran and their dog are close to graduating they will be asked to mentor incoming trainees to help them transition into our program. We feel this is very beneficial to both the new trainee and experienced veteran. Once the dog is fully trained in the individual tasks it will be certified as a service dog or classified a therapeutic companion dog / Emotional Support Animal.”
