Our Area of Service: Arizona Golden Rescue’s rescue efforts are concentrated in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, but we will take dogs from all areas of the state and sometimes even from out of state. Because of the National trend of fewer Golden Retrievers coming into rescue, Arizona Golden Rescue has made the decision not to accept Out of State adoptions as there are many applicants in state that do not receive dogs because of the limited number of dogs coming in.

Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated. They are also microchipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for valley fever and heartworm. The rescued dogs are then placed into Foster homes or “Foster With Intent To Adopt” homes until they are permanently placed with their new “Forever Homes.” Arizona Golden Rescue is a “Non-Shelter Rescue” with all dogs staying in Foster homes till adopted.

What we do. Who we Help: Arizona Golden Rescue provides emotional and medical rehabilitation and will pay for all medications and for necessary surgeries prior to adoptions being finalized. If “Bonded Pairs” that fit our criteria are surrendered to AGR we will guarantee that the pairs will stay together. Through education at public appearances, AGR seeks to educate the public about the Golden Retriever breed and about responsible dog ownership, in order to help reduce the unwanted dog population.

The “WAGS Line” is answered live from 8:00 am till 6:00 pm. Monday thru Friday. Calls outside these hours will be answered by Voicemail and we will return your call by the next day or at a time you designate. Adoption Days! Animals are available for Adoption (dates, time, and locations): To adopt a Golden or Golden mix from AGR you must first fill out an application which is available online under applications and receive a home visit. All dogs are placed in homes that are most appropriate for them and not on a first come first serve basis.
