An Example of a Volunteer who would be a Great Fit and/or Characterisitics of an Ideal Volunteer for us: We are not a perfect organization. We are a group of people breaking new ground. Our focus is on people who are used to helping others but not used to asking for help…people who find themselves needing help. They lost their job or home, had a catastrophic illness or injury, experienced a natural disaster or economic loss because their retirement money disappeared. When we give them that bag of pet food, for a few seconds, we have alleviated past loneliness, sadness, bitterness…and gotten into their heart through their love for their beloved pet. We can connect and let them know, they are NOT alone, that someone cares if they live or die. That bag of pet food, is really a bag of HOPE, to try another day. We need volunteers to understand that we are working at a much deeper level then just giving out pet food.
