In addition to the features that help all Nonprofit organizations, there are several features that have been added to exclusively help Animal Rescue organizations.

CommunityCause.org was originally created to serve animal rescue groups. However, the creator of this website could see the benefit of coordinating efforts across different types of Nonprofits and noticed natural alliances that could be formed with organizations with complementary missions. For instance, environmentalists who want to divert waste from landfills may provide extra volunteers willing to pick up unwanted pet food from pet stores and transport it to an animal shelter. We can learn a lot from each other and support each other in our efforts to make the world a better place.

Here are some of the features set up to specifically help Animal Rescues:

There are currently several projects running that are Community Projects, Crowdsourcing Requests, etc. All of these benefit animals and can be seen on the Home Page of this website by scrolling down to the project list.

There is also a Goal listed to have Zero Euthanasia for any Dog that can have a meaningful quality of life by 2017 in Maricopa County. This Goal invites people to list projects that they are working on that can accomplish this goal. This helps us to cooperate and coordinate our activities and avoid duplication of effort.

Classified Ad Categories for Animal Rescues –There is a specific category entitled “An Animal Needs Help”. Click Here and scroll down to see all Classified Ad Categories. There are also sub-categories for Animals under several other category headings.

In the “An Animal Needs Help” category, you will see “Armchair Rescuer”–These are community volunteers who will use their own social media channels to help you to get information out about your animals available for adoption and adoption location/hours. In this same category, you will also notice sub-categories for Lost, Found, Unwanted, Breed Request (to adopt) and Questions about animals.

Special Home Needed for a Special Animal–This is the Classified Ad Category where animal rescue groups can request extra help in getting the word out about a special needs animal that needs a specific type of home placement. Sometimes animal rescues have an animal that, for whatever reason, has been slow to be adopted and it is preventing you from rescuing new animals. The community volunteers will help you to get the word out about those perfectly nice but slow to be adopted animals as well. Animals need not have a big specific behavioral or medical issue to use this service. If you need to get the word out beyond your current list of contacts, tap into the power of the social media channels of the community volunteers. They will help you to get the word out.

“Dog & Cat Social Workers”–These are community volunteers who are familiar with the system and services available in animal rescue and they help the public to access those services. For instance, if there is an unwanted dog, then the Dog Social Worker would advocate for that dog and try to keep it safely in its home until a new furrever home is found. They would assist the family in finding a local animal rescue to help with re-homing the dog while the family acts as a “Foster” for their own family dog.

Amateur Pet Detectives–These are people who are willing to assist the public and organizations when an animal has been lost or found in an area of town. They help the family to reunite with their fur family member by guiding them through the checklist of what to do if they have lost or found and dog or cat.

Neighborhood Resource People–These are community volunteers who are willing to act as resource people to anyone in their neighborhood who has a specific animal question or issue. They can also serve as an impromptu helper for an animal rescue group who needs help or assistance in an area of town where they do not have their own volunteer. Neighborhood Resource People can act as mentors to others in their neighborhood for how to properly care for our animal family members.
